About the Role
The Part-Time Audio-Visual Technician is responsible for assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio-visual equipment at events or on an as-needed basis. They work under the direction of a supervisor or senior technician to ensure that all equipment is functioning properly, and that events run smoothly and according to plan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with the setup and installation of audio-visual equipment, including speakers, microphones, projectors, and screens.
Operate audio-visual equipment during events, ensuring that sound, lighting, and video quality are at the required levels.
Troubleshoot technical issues and resolve them in a timely manner, minimizing any disruptions to the event.
Take down and pack away audio-visual equipment after events, ensuring that it is properly stored and maintained.
Assist with the maintenance and inventory of audio-visual equipment, performing routine checks and reporting any issues to the supervisor or senior technician.
Follow all safety procedures and protocols, ensuring that all equipment is used safely and responsibly.
Communicate effectively with event organizers and other staff members, providing excellent customer service and support.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring that all equipment is properly labeled and stored.
Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in the audio-visual industry, and incorporate them into the work as appropriate.
Requirements
The Part-Time Audio-Visual Technician plays an important role in ensuring that events run smoothly and that the audio-visual equipment is functioning properly. They require a combination of technical expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure. They must be able to communicate effectively with event organizers and other staff members, troubleshoot technical issues, and work independently or as part of a team.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Proven experience in audio-visual operations or related field preferred.
Knowledge of audio-visual equipment, including speakers, microphones, projectors, and screens.
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with event organizers and other staff members.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and adapt to changing priorities and environments.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Ability to lift and move heavy equipment as needed.
